Washington State fails to collect free tax money

Adios free tax money

Adios free tax money

If you live in Washington State and you own a car, you pay a vehicle registration tax. As an option, you can opt-in to pay a five dollars additional for our State Parks.
But if you own an RV, boat or motorcycle, there is no option to pay anything towards our state parks.

I was stymied when I tried to find the $5.00 opt-in fee on my camper registration. We camp in Washington State parks a lot and I highly respect our state park system. But I was dismayed that I could not pay the opt-in fee.
And ditto that when my motorscooter registration came due.

A fellow in front of me at the DOT registration office had three boat trailers to register and I heard him request to pay the opt in fee for our state parks. He was refused!

It seems to me that vehicle tabs are tabs, whether the tabs are on a motorhome, camper, boat, trailer, jet ski or motorcycle, everyone should be allowed to contribute to as many times and as much as they would like.

Tis the season of disappearing small pets – a warning

Coyote

Canis latrans

The coyotes in the Gig Harbor area have their pups in April and May.  The new pups means that the coyote parents are looking for more food than before.  Coyotes see cats and small dogs as a food source and frequently take them during the spring months.

Coyotes normally don’t approach humans although small children three years of age and younger have been attacked in California.  Carefully monitor small children outdoors and keep small pets inside at night.

The madness infecting the Tacoma City Council

The problem with elected officials today is that they don’t mind the business that they are elected to perform.
For example, the Tacoma City Council is planning a vote to express opposition the the immigration law recently passed in Arizona.

Like lemmings following some vaporous thought cloud, the Tacoma City Council is running off in a direction that has nothing to offer them.

Is that what a city council is supposed to do?  Are they actually spending time, energy and tax payer dollars?  In this economy? And getting paid for it?

Here are a few words for the Tacoma City Council:

It is not the job of the Tacoma city council to castigate or express opinions of what other states do in terms of law enforcement.
YOUR business is the city of Tacoma.
Mind it.
